DealPing ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible. This Privacy Policy explains how we manage information in an open and transparent manner, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
We collect the minimum information reasonably necessary to provide and improve the service:
We generate a random UUID on first launch. It is stored on your device and may be sent to our backend (Supabase) to store your preferences, manage notifications, and assist with support/deletion requests. It is not linked to your real-world identity unless you choose to provide identifying information (e.g., by emailing us). You can view this UUID within the app's settings.
If you opt in to notifications, we store your device's push notification token to deliver deal alerts.
Keywords and categories you select, linked to your UUID. Keywords you enter are treated as user-generated content.
Crash reports, performance data, and usage events. This may include device/app information (e.g., device model, OS version, app version), log data, and identifiers generated by the SDKs (e.g., app instance/installation identifiers). These SDKs may automatically collect app instance identifiers, device identifiers, and IP address/network info as part of providing analytics/diagnostics.
If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We use this only to respond and support your request.
When you view a deal, the app loads content from OzBargain and, in some cases, linked retailer websites within an in-app browser (WebView).
These third-party websites may use their own cookies, scripts, trackers, analytics, or affiliate technologies in accordance with their own privacy policies. DealPing does not control or have access to data collected by these third-party services.
Network activity generated while viewing external website content may be attributed to the DealPing app by your device's operating system (for example, in Apple's App Privacy Report), even though this activity originates from the websites being viewed rather than the app itself.
We do not intentionally collect: your name, phone number, precise location, payment details, or government IDs.
To operate DealPing, we may disclose information to third-party service providers that store or process data on servers located outside Australia, including the United States:
Depending on the service, these providers may act as our processors or as independent controllers under their own privacy terms. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients protect your data, including encryption in transit and, where supported, encryption at rest. However, we may not be able to control how overseas recipients handle data beyond contractual and technical safeguards.
We collect usage data to understand how users interact with the app and to improve its performance. This includes:
Network data: Our service providers may process IP addresses and related network information for security, abuse prevention, and delivering their services.
This data may be associated with your pseudonymous UUID and/or identifiers generated by the SDKs, and is not intended to directly identify you. Crash/error reporting may not be optional as it is used to maintain app stability. We do not use analytics for advertising. We may send the text of keywords you add (e.g., 'lego') to our analytics providers to understand feature usage and improve the app.
Our website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand site traffic and improve the site. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and collect information such as pages visited, interactions, approximate location, and device/browser information. Google may also process IP address and related network information for security and measurement. Website analytics data may be processed on servers located outside Australia.

We take reasonable steps to protect information using measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege permissions. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we aim to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.
We retain your preferences and push notification token only for as long as necessary to provide the service.
Uninstalling the app removes data stored on your device. Server-side records may remain for a limited period for operational purposes (e.g., backups, security logs) or until you request deletion.
To remove your data from our systems, email us with your UUID (available in app settings). Where available, we will apply deletion requests within our accounts/settings for those providers, but their retention may be governed by their own settings and legal obligations. We aim to respond to deletion requests within 30 days.
Under the APPs, you may request access to or correction of the personal information we hold about you. Due to our use of pseudonymous identifiers, we may require your UUID to locate your specific record.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on our website and/or within the app, and update the "Last updated" date.
DealPing is intended for users aged 18 years and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that such information has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
